❓ Frequently Asked Questions

What file format should I use for manuscript submission?

IJORET accepts manuscripts in Microsoft Word (.docx) or LaTeX formats. Word is preferred for initial submissions. Ensure all figures and tables are embedded in the document. If using LaTeX, submit the compiled PDF along with source files. Files should be named clearly (e.g., “Lastname_Manuscript_2025.docx”). Maximum file size is 25MB. For larger files with extensive graphics, contact the editorial office. Review our complete engineering research topics to ensure your work fits our scope.

What is the recommended manuscript length for IJORET?

Research articles should typically be 4,000-8,000 words (excluding references, tables, and figures). This usually translates to 10-20 pages. Review papers can be longer (up to 12,000 words). Short communications should be 2,000-3,000 words. There are no strict page limits if the content is justified, but concise writing is encouraged. Include only essential figures and tables. The abstract should not exceed 250 words. Check our peer review process for evaluation criteria.

What citation style does IJORET use?

IJORET follows IEEE citation style for engineering papers. Use numbered citations in square brackets [1] appearing in order in the text. The reference list should be numbered sequentially. Include all author names, article title, journal name (abbreviated), volume, issue, page numbers, and year. For books, include publisher and location. For conference papers, include conference name and location. Use DOI when available. Consistency is crucial. Example: [1] A. Smith and B. Jones, “Research title,” Journal Name, vol. 10, no. 2, pp. 123-145, 2024.

Can I submit a manuscript that is currently under review elsewhere?

No. IJORET requires that submitted manuscripts are original works not currently under consideration by any other journal or publisher. Simultaneous submission violates publication ethics and will result in immediate rejection. However, you may submit work that has been presented at a conference if it has been substantially expanded and improved. Pre-prints posted on servers like arXiv are acceptable. Once you receive a decision from IJORET, you’re free to submit elsewhere if rejected. Our open access policy ensures maximum visibility for accepted papers.
